Does anyone know if they have commenced construction on the west island MTR extension yet? I know it is due to start, but havent heard anything on the subject for a long time.

I am given to understand (unofficially at present) that it will not commence for some time and that the Southern line to South Horizons is the one being given the go ahead.

the extension to kennedy town (last stop of the line) is due for 2012, I believe.
