Kuhn Rikon kitchen gadgets?

Last spring when Wellcome had their Kuhn Rikon stamp promotion I got the juicer and the food processer. I used the juicer once and was unable to take it apart in order to clean it properly -- read the instructions thoroughly but it seems the metal screen through which the juice passes doesn't come off. Don't want to risk making everyone sick, so never used it again. After putting together the food processer I couldn't get it to function (plugged it in and pressed buttons but nothing happened). Checked it was assembled properly, that all the closure devices were clicked into place -- still nothing. Had a few smarter people than me try as well. No joy. I'm about to put them outside the door for the rubbish ladies to do what they want with, but before I do has anyone had any success with these things? Any tips? Thanks.
