Another hair dye question...

Hello girls,

now here is my problem : i have a few white hair and like to dye them to match my "natural colour", which is quite dark (good for me, because they have got sooooo many different kind of brown here, contrarily to my hometown where blondes gets all the favours).

However, last time i had them dyed, i don't know what product they used, but my otherwise healthy hair are quite dry, even though i did the usual conditionner / mask even salon treatment on top of that.

In France, i used to have L'Oreal semi permanent diacolor and i once had another international brand (maybe wella ???) in HK (don't remember the name of the place either) which were both great to my hair.

Can you recommand me any salon where i could have my hair dyed, without damaging products & at a reasonnable cost ?

Any other professional hair dye brand that won"t destroy my hair ?

Thank you in advance,

Welcome to the crowd mayita. Semi perm hair colour is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find in HK - all the local salons do it though and you can even have your hair dyed for as little as 150 if you don't go to the "big guys".

Good luck.

You can buy it from the Professional Hair Products Shop on Wellington Street. Very reasonably priced.

Actually i don't want to buy it and do me myself, i'd like to have someone do it for me (like a hairdresser...)

Thanks anyway.... worst case, i'll do this and try to convince my hairdresser to apply it to me....

mayita, most salons in HK carry products such as L'oreal, Wella, Goldwell etc so it should not be a problem to find somewhere to do your hair. It is always a good idea to go in for a consultation first to make sure you are comfortable with what you are getting before having it done.

Thanks bbchk

You mean used to hair that are not poker straight and actually show kinks when not cut properly....

Good, last time i went to the hairdresser and tried the local around 60 dollars a cut, but the seemed to "overdo" the layers which is utterly suitable on poker straight chinese hair, but unfortunately not on mine.... anyway, it grows back ...

Do you mean that Cut + Coulour ends up at 800 HKD (minus 20% = 640 HKD)?

Bugger, I have long hair, will probably end up paying much more than tha...

Try Mina Dev Wil on Cochrane St. You can get it done much cheaper. Since you want semi perm in a moderate colour, you will be very safe. It is very inexpensive but a nice place.

I would be concerned having chemical services dont at that salon as they do use the cheapest products they can. I only know this becasue a have a couple of friends that work there. I think some of the stylists are good for cuts and such things but i the quality of the products they use ic a concern. Thats not to say it wont turn out well but it is a concern.

Hi Mayita,

Tidings were right that TRUE semi permanent colour is hard to find nowadays, not just in HK, because a true semi usually last about 5 to 6 washes but Quasi colour which is now commonly used as semi, last up to 21 shampoos depends on the porosity of your hair.

You can always call up a few salons of your choice to check if they stock Diacolor or Richesse, both can cover up to 50% white hair where colour touch by Wella cannot.

I am sure that you now have a pretty good idea about this subject with all these helpful info posted here, trust your instinct, don't let anybody talk you into something that you don't want/need, take care and good luck.

Actually, Diacolor, Richesse and Color Touch will all give some coverage on white hair and they are NOT true semi-perminent. They all have activators thus are mid-way colors. A true semi-permanent is water based and does not change the structure of the hair at all.
