Moving into a new flat

Hi Everyone,

I'm moving into a new flat soon.

Need to register the utilities in my name. Does anyone know how to do that?

Also I need to open a local bank account. I know some ATMs charge customers of other banks for using them. Which is the beset bank to open an account with?

Is there anything else that I should look to be doing as I go into my flat?

Really appreciate your help guys.

- maybe you can ask your agent to do the legwork for you (re: utilities) because in my case it was my agent who volunteered to do it for me, for free. i paid hk$1,000 for electricity, water and gas.

- i haven't had any problems with hsbc so i'd say go for hsbc too. though i've been hearing hang seng and bea are good too.

- check out for water leaks and noisy neighbors. if possible, take a picture of the flat before you move in and take another picture after you've decorated it. you'll feel really good about your creative self!

As a person who has not been here that long, i would have to recommend BEA, as their cust.service has been really good.
