Single forever?

Hi everyone,

Any Westerner ladies age 35 and up who are having trouble finding a relationship in HK/China?

I'm 40 years old, have been working in Shenzhen for 1 1/2 years and am despairing of being single as long as I stay here. I'm outgoing, attractive, fit, but seem to get no attention whatsoever from men. Western men seem mostly interested in young Chinese girls, and Chinese men (from what my friends tell me) are intimidated by Western women. It seems like a no-win situation. I guess added to this is that fact that I'm not willing to settle for any warm body as long as it's male.

My friends (mostly Chinese) are all coupled off, and it's getting to be a drag always being the single "auntie" at every event.

Is anyone going through the same thing and do you have any advice?

Thanks,

Jmgrrl

Hi there Jmgrrl,

Yes I know what you mean! But being in a relationship doesn't always mean bliss and happiness. I can honestly say I'm happier than many couples I know, who stay together not for love but for fear of being alone. Hey I'm single and I enjoy the tranquility of my own company and the feeling that I can do whatever I want when I want. Cheer up Jmgrrl and don't settle for second best.

Chloe :)

Not only Westerner ladies age 35 and up are having trouble finding a relationship in HK/China... loads of Chinese ladies are single too. In Asia, all women over 30 are considered as "old maids".

Wait until you get to 55 my friend and I go out and about for a drink or a meal and all men literally look through us as though we are invisible. Thanks God I'm moving back to a country where men don't feel they have to have a partner the same age as their daughter. Their loss:)
