We want to make the transition easier for our little man, its his first day today.
Any tips?
(He is going to a local school.)

Can't control much at school, except be organised and make sure he understands where all his stuff is and it is named. Perhaps have a walk through the school after hours when it is not crowded so he can work his way around and not feel too lost. Showing it to someone else will give him some confidence and help him remember.
At home - be very calm, don't ask much else of him in terms of activities. Have all his meals and bedtime all sorted and even a bit earlier so he has no other stress. It is a huge amount of new information for them to take in and so minimising all the other things they have to think and worry about is a big plus.
Be sympathetic in the first few weeks to misplaced items and really focus with helping him to learn the days of special activities and packing bags. Not nice to be the only one without your PE kit or library book. Ditto with any new subjects he has to take.
Good luck.
