Do it yourself! Costs only HKD160 government which is only chargeable when successful. Just make sure that you keeop calling Immigration Ofice everytime when something does not entirly make sense on their website/forms/guidance notes etc. But really, it is not rocket science, and if you have the time it should not be a problem at all.

You can try some law firms. HKD21,000 sounds quite expensive. Lawyers shouldn't charge much more. Alternative you can try relocation companies. They often provide these services as well.

Good luck!

I wld suggest to do it urself rather than paying HK$21k, not worth it. Furthermore, the ID employees are very helpful. You can email them and request for someone whom u can liaise with and they will let u know.

GreenValleys - yes, for a work visa you need a sponsor etc. But that doesn't mean that you can't prepare and file the documents required for visa applications yourself and safe a lot of money.

Tjej - sorry, I have no infos on working holiday visa, except that it is available. But do check the HKID website. Most of the information there is quite good and gives you a first idea. Then give them a few calls to really understand what information and docs you need to give them. Send it off - and you should be alright. If the information is not sufficient, they will contact you and ask for anything outstanding. It will merely delay your visa approval.

BTW - there are lots of agents that help with visa matters. Most are specialiesd on domestic helpers though. Check with this page here or yellow pages in HK. They should charge less than HKD7000. Sorry, no recommendations though. Havent used them myself.

Tjej> Just apply. Assuming you meet the criteria and the quota is not full, you should be fine for a working holiday visa. Why do you think you need an immigration lawyer for this?

"Safe money" - took me a couple of readings before I realised this is a bit of a howler...

"Claire: Tjej told that she's a Swedish national and Sweden is not a participating country in the working holiday scheme --> no working holidays."

a) Then why is she applying for a working holiday visa? If this is the case, she is clearly not eligible for that kind of visa and the best lawyer in the world can't bend the HK Immigration laws.

b) "As for me I'm trying on getting a working holiday visa which is available to Irish, Australian and New Zealand citizens. " I assumed, therefore, she was one of these nationalities. I didn't see that she said she is Sweidsh on this thread. Perhaps my eyes have deceived me. Where is it mentioned (i.e. time ago)?
