some cultures (well mainly in slightly less wealthy cultures, shall i put it)babies start potty training much earlier - for example in Russia (am Russian myself) the average age of potty training is about 9 months!
Am not that brave myself tho.. and can afford nappies, thank God, but still will try at 18 months I think!

hi joshmomm, how do i do that?

Hi joshmomm, i think i am heading the same direction as yours. at 5 month i started to do the mmmmmg sounds and he is responding well. i do it at the same time everyday and next month i will let him sit at the potty to mmmmmmmmmg :)

Wow maybe I can try it too coz he also poos around the same time every day. But the thing is how do I get him to sit on the potty? He doesn't want to sit in his high chair!

Well this is done in Mainland China.

My mother explained to me that in India cloth diapers help with the pee-training. As babies get older they start to connect the discomfort of wet cloth nappies with peeing and are more amenable to using potties. But of course there are accidents and you are pretty much restricted to staying at home. I am due in 3-4 weeks now and I was thinking of using both cloth and disposable.
My mother is very proud of how early my brother and I were potty trained as babies but I really don't see what the big deal is. Some babies just take longer as do their moms and that is OKAY, isn't it?

Hi Nicher..to answer ur ques...i used the potty which had a play rod with beads attached to the front so my daughter would be pretty tempted to sit on the potty and play while doing potty..she was completely poopoo trained by 1 i think...and also she picked up this habit of reading her books while sitting on potty so that kept her amused while sitting there...infact that worked so well that instead of saying potty she would say "mumma boob" and i would understand that she wants to sit on her potty...

Thanks smsm! Your little girl is like a little adult! Reading books while poo-ing! Amazing haha! I agree I must get something to amuse him to have him sit still, otherwise he will just struggle to get up.
I haven't even got a potty for him yet. Maybe will get one soon over the weekend. Anyone got recommendation on potty brands?

Nicher, let me know how it goes. I have some doubts about my ability to make my LO sit on the potty.... you know how she is...

Lasez - I know, our bubs are just the same. Need some effort to get them sit still. Good luck!
Joshmomm - will definitely check out the cushioned potty seat. I think I saw it in B2B too.

Hi moms, i too started taking mm to the toilet at 6mths, he is now 8mths old and has not pooped in his diaper more than 3 or 4 times since we started taking him. it's been great when we're out and about because the moment he starts grunting, we head to the public bathroom and i squat with him b/t my legs and he will go in the toilet!! Now when he starts to grunt he knows i am taking him and will wait until we get to the toilet, up to 10mins later!!
I put up a mirror infront of the toilet, mm loves staring at himself while he goes.

i say hats off to those women who potty train their babies early.
I think they do the environment a BIG favour.

Gotta get started! 20 months old and am sure he could handle it now. My first I started when we could talk about it at about 18 to 20 mths old. but didn't like the potty and tookt o using the toilet instead really fast.
Will start this week with number two I think.
