My boyfriend will soon have a job in Germany, and we intend to leave HK and settle there next year. Since we are not married, we do not intend to do so yet, I wonder if I have to provide any documentation to the immigration department to prove that I will be his dependent, and that I can move to Germany as well, given that I am not 'officially' his spouse. Any advice?

Try contacting the German Consulate General. They should know. And it gives you a good first impression of German bureaucracy... a bit painful - but should be ok ;-)
