My unpaid parking fine - what next?

I just found a parking fine that until now I've forgotten to pay ($320). It is about 2 months overdue. The blurb on the back of the fine says it has to be paid within 21 days and any late payment will not be recognised. I rang the transport dept number but it's all pre-recorded....no humans to speak to. I'm thinking I'm just going to send off a cheque in the mail and hope that's the end of it - amyone know the facts? Thanks

Same thing happened with me, just forgot. I sent the payment off anyway which was returned. I then contacted the name on the letter who was most helpful and I had to send her an email explaining why the payment was late. I was then asked to resubmit payment - a happy ending!

Interesting that the first story I've heard in some time to do with efficient government service is to do with debt/fine collection!
