My 8 month old has been diagnosed with horizontal nystagmus by a pediatric optomologist. We were asked to take her to see a pediatric neurologist but none of the private ped neurologist see children 10 years of age. Does anyone know why this is the case? do you have a good reliable ped neurologist you have seen for your child ? or a friend may know of . pls let me know. is the public system the only altenative in hongkong?

We have been using the public system to see a paediatric neurologist and have no complaints. Ours is at QMH. I'm afraid I don't know how common or uncommon your baby's diagnosis is, but unless I knew for sure there was a recognised expert at one of the private hospitals I wouldn't want to be anywhere other than QMH (or one of the other teaching hospitals) for anything unusual - they are likely to have the most experience of dealing with things that are out of the ordinary. Your usual paediatrician will, I'm sure, be able to refer you to a specialist at one of the public hospitals.
