Hope you would like to share some of your teaching ideas with me, I seem to be running out of steam...the kids are secondary level needing help mainly with their grammar and conversation. Cheers

I get the kids to talk about their favourite things with me. It could football, music or anything else which THEY are interested in. We do research together, reading and if time permits, projects on the same subject.
What is important is that to know what makes them tick and learn grammar, ways to express themselves through a soft and fun approach.
I even use their 'lingo' cos they have to think that you are C@@L and not just a boring mom who is trying to get them to study all the time.
It takes time which is often a premium in HK. There are many other ways which could make learning interesting for you and your kids which we can incorporate into our daily lives.

Go on a field trip around HK--
make a shortlist and ask them to vote on a place to visit. Base your conversations around elements of the outing--transportation, what they saw, what they liked about the place, what people were engaged in..It would help if you can supply a guide questionnaire so they know what to look out for.
