NFL / CFB coverage

Does anyone which carrier will be covering any NFL games for the coming season? I looked at the ESPN schedule and I don't even see the 2 live games (Sunday night and Monday night) they covered last season. There only seems to be a random college game on once in a while.

Unfortunately, I just received the following email on that very subject:

"Thank you very much for your mail.

After checking with ESS, we regret that NFL could not broadcast on Star Sports /ESPN, as ESS (ESPN STAR Sports) do not hold the rights to show this program.

Sports' broadcasting is a major undertaking involving many issues that restrict our rights to broadcast a program. We will relate your feedback to ESS Programming Division as your feedback is very valuable and help them to understand viewers' tastes and preferences.

Should you have any enquiry on ESS, you may contact them by e-mail at custserve@espnstar.com or by phone at +65 6488 6500.

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,

Customer Service Department

STAR Group Limited"

Considering ESPN is the rights holder for MNF in the US, I really find this hard to believe. Very disappointing.

I heard that the nfl would make games available online this season... NHL had the playoffs online however you had to access through a proxy because overseas ips were blocked for some bizarre reason....

I also understand the CFL Canadian Football League was going online - we were negotiating the asian rights but at the last minute a network in Canada stepped in and took some sort of exclusivity ... yet I cant find out how to subscribe to the CFL online anywhere....

You can watch the NFL games online but you’re talking a good few hundred US dollars to do so.

Here is the link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nflgamepass

Surely the NFL is the most popular sport of choice for US expats? I don’t understand why ESPN would cut it from their programming, especially when they hold the MNF rights.

Thanks - it really is unbelievable that they can't continue with the minimal coverage. I'll follow up by email to them but I don't hold out much hope seeing as they have decided what they decided already.

As far as online goes, Field Pass from the NFL was video last year but it looks like audio only this year. For video, it looks like you also need to be a subscriber of the DirecTV package in the US to get the online feed.

Quick search has shown up this site http://www.officialtvsports.com/ but I have no idea what it is like

Likewise, not very happy about all those commercials... I dont think you can FF through them... I tried to drag the time bar forward - that doesnt work - tried the fast forward arrow but that doesnt work - in fact dont try that because it will kick out of game to the schedule and once you do that you have to start the game over again because of course, you cant FF....

Heck I'd pay MORE if it meant no commercials.

Still pretty pleased with the gamepass though. Btw, you'll be glad to know that NOW blamed ESPNStar and ESPNStar blamed NOW for lack of TV coverage after my enquiries!

What does this mean for the playoffs and Superbowl? The NFL season is not critical for me but I need playoff football!!!

I am so glad i cancelled my nowtv espn/star package subscription. They did advertise NFL as part of their coverage when they try to lure me into an extension. Now that I got a slingbox setup, I won't need to put up with all these broadcasting rights nonsense anymore.
