ORIGINAL POST

I am looking for package holidays to go Skiing with friends at the moment.

We would like to go for a week over Chinese New Year and hopefully somewhere reasonably close and cheap. Possibly China, Korea or Japan.

Does anyone have any recommendations of

a) places to go

b) travel agents that offer packages

Many thanks!

I am booking with http://www.niseko-hirafu.com/nisekopowderconnection/index.php they seem pretty together. An Ozzie is handling the reservation, a couple of e-mails, a bit of double-checking and the reservation is done. It's not cheap but got to get my ski fix somehow.

Thanks again!

Do they book flights as well?

No, I booked the flights separately. Cathay go direct to Sapporo (Chitose) and then the NPC handle everything from there, ie. coach transfers etc.

There are some good ski resorts north of Tokyo (1 hour bullet train ride) near Niigata. Flights to Tokyo should be easier to book than to Sapporo, as you have many more choices of airlines and multiple departures each day. Have a look on http://www.welovesnow.com.

We already booked Hokkaido this year, but would love to try this place next year.

I've just come back from 10 days holiday with my wife and kids in Myoko, Japan. Great food and skiing. Kids had lessons with instructor Sam from from Myoko Snowsports. Not a huge drinking nightlife which suited us fine.

Can definately recommend it for a ski holiday.

There Are many places to Ski in Japan. I wouldn't advise getting a package because it usually ends up being more expensive. Hakuba would have to be one of my favorite places to snowboard. There are a lot of different skifields here so there is something for everyone. A really nice hotel there is Alpine Wind Hakuba. they have an onsen (hot spring) there which is great for relaxing in when you come back from a day on the mountain. The owners are nice and they have a nice bar and resturant there that is cheap as well. The website is www.alpinewindhakuba.com .
