Hi there, I will be moving from Sydney to the New Territories (near Shatin) in December with my husband and 5 month old son as my husband is taking up a new job there. I was wondering if there was any other mums out there who live in the area or nearby who might be willing to meet up and/or answer any questions I have about living in the area? Thanks very much.

I know the area quite well. Shatin has lots of village houses (which can be spacious and very reasonably priced, then you have the houses and apartments. A nice area to live which is in Tai Po about 15 mins from Shatin is Hong Lok Yuen. Nice friendly area, lots of expats, and there is an international school which caters for Nursery up to Year 8. Main housing in HLY is houses, with gardens some have pools. Accomodation in HK can be quite expensive. So if you want space and don't want to pay a lot it might be worth checking out the village houses. Apartments in HK are pretty small.

I live in Ma On Shan which is not too far from Shatin. I moved here from Sydney 5 years ago with my husband. I have a 10 month old daughter. I can try and help you with any questions.
