Where would you go? We've never been before and would love to stay somewhere reasonably priced and able to go to the beaches and take tours. Any suggestions?
TIA

Hello, thanks for everyone's input. We only get 3 days because of my husband's job. Is this time to short to go to Thailand from HK? TIA again.

It's not too short, but you will really only be able to go to one place. So either beach or tours, you will need to decide.

Thank you! I think tours is probably the one we'll choose, so if anyone has any ideas, that would be very helpful. Thank you!

I came back from Bangkok's trip 2 weeks ago.
If you can, arrange for a evening return flight, to make the most out of the trip. Also, have a Sat or Sun if you want to go to Chatuchak market.
You can easily visit Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, Flower market on your own:
Day 2 (9am-3pm)
Reach Saphan Taksin (Skytrain station) before 8.45am and walk to the Pier( 2-3 mins walk) . Purchase a day's trip on "Chao Phraya Express Tourist Boat "( 120 Bhts per pax, unlimited ride s 9am- 3pm). This boat will stop at several piers which will allow you to hop on/off for each destination . It can be recognised by the flag, anytime you continue your rides at the Piers.
If you follow the following sequence, you will have ample time to visit 3 destinations within 9am-3pm. You will be given a schedule/guide book, so take note of the boat schedule for each destination.
1. Maharaj Pier - hop off the boat, walk straight for 2 mins and turn right. Walk another 3-5 mins and you can see the whereabouts of the Grand Palace/Emerald Buddha.
2. Tha Tien Pier - hop off, walk for about 3-5 mins and the temple " Wat Pho" is on the right.
3. Memorial Bridge - hop off, walk straight for 5 mins, turn right and walk for 5 mins to the flower market. Buy a couple of bunches of flowers (about 20 roses? per bunch for 20 Bhts). Your hotel room will be fragrant and enjoy a rose petal bath!

Chatuchak Market directions.
To avoid the traffic jams either take the skytrain(Sukhumvit Line) to Mochit station or MRT to Chatuchak Park, directly in front of the weekend market.
Go early as it is extremely humid there. Have a good time!
