American International School Info??

We are preparing to move from the USA to Hong Kong in the next 6 weeks and are having a really hard time finding out 'real' information about the schools there. Our first choice, because it is SO HIGHLY recommended is the HKIS, but they've already told us twice that they are at capacity and not accepting new students. Our second choice, by default, is the American Intl School. although we've heard basically nothing about it's reputation. I just read on an old thread that someone didn't think it was that great, but their experience there was almost 10 years old. Can anyone offer me more recent or another school alternative for my girls??

(Preschool, 1st grade and 7th grade.)

Thank you!!!

I don't have any experience with American Intl School but my children 6 and 7 (from NZ) are going to Bradbury ESF school. Check out www.esf.edu.hk and this will give you an idea.

Thank you both! The American school did tell me that they have openings for all 3 grades we need, but they insist on personal interviews with each of our girls before they'll guarentee a spot for them. That leaves us with the option that you just warned me against - moving here in hopes they get in! It's making us pretty nervous. The info you just shared about the AIS is a real relief though. Thank you so much for that! I know our company will do most anything to help us get the girls into schools there so that helps a lot.

My husband and I are traveling to HK in about a week to look at the schools and to find a place for our family to live. Do you know much living spots where lots of xpats with children live?
