Xbox 360 Elite

I am planning to get one and still looking thru the net for the pros n cons of this machine.


I need advise or feedbacks from anyone who owns one regarding the pros and cons of this console.

I have the regular 360, and i am more than happy with it. I believe the main extra feature is that the elite has the extra storage on the HD. The over-heating hasnt been an issue for me, and i have installed an extra fan attachment to prevent these problems happening. But they should have sorted it out in the elite version!! I like the 360 because it has a big bank of games, wheras the PS3 has only just come out so the games arent as varied. The 360 programmers have had longer to work out how much they can squeeze out of the 360. If you like driving games i would get Forza Motorsport 2, i am currently addicted to that!!

Yep, i love car racing games, and found out there is one car racing game in xbox that is kinda realistic such as when u hit something, the car is damage, unlike PS2 ver. which i currently owned who doesn't have such realistic car racing games. Can u provide me the name of that game if possible? It's sometime ago.

im having a bit of trouble just setting mine up to the online stuff. i have two netvigator lines into the house, (running two tvs in different rooms) and im trying to set it to use the pc linksys wifi but it wont verify the ip section. ive entered the correct user name and password (i think), what else am i missing??? love forza 2 aswel but can't get online!

car_lover, the game is called "Forza Motorsport 2" and i reckon it is the best racing game out on the 360. My favourite car right now is a big american muscle car, which has crazy rear wheel drive handling. A word of warning, if you have a chipped 360 dont go online as your 360 will get banned and you wont be able to play online ever again anyway. They have a way of working out which boxes are chipped. I have also heard rumours that they can upload an update to nullify the chipping process automatically when you go online!! You boys are in HK so probably have official 360's but thought i would mention it!!


Programmer, can you let me know why those attachments dont work?? I am baffled as it seems that the extra fan power pulls the hot air away from the chips thus helping to cool them down. My XBOX is about 4 months old, do you think it has the old style heatsinks??

We sold our Xbox 360 Premium edition and my husband bought the Elite.


Here is what he says:


Elite has 120 G as compared to 20G (in Premium)

Elite has HDMI which delivers up to 1080P resolution where as Premium with component video can only output to a maximum of 1080i .

Of course, you can use a VGA cable on a premium system to also get the 1080P, but most HDTV does not have VGA input.

For DVD movie playing, a HDMI will upscale a movie from 480P to 1080P if your TV has that.

With a component on Premium, will not upscale DVD movie and would stay at 480P resolutions.

Elite DVD drive is actually a lite -on drive where as Premium has either the toshiba, or hitachi DVD.

Hitachi DVD is the oldest installed in Xbox 360, and the noisiest, sounds like a blender.

Toshiba is better, but still noisy.

Elite has an added heat-sink to the GPU. ( Graphic processing unit) Has a much cooler temperature than the oldest Premium, which is the majority of the problem resulting 3 rings of death.


The list goes on.... Anways, he bought his machine for $ 3580.00 plus the extra black controller (as we had 2 controllers before, but sold them with the old machine).


ALL three systems including Core, Premium and Elite are now still using the 90 nn chip. There is a new chip of 65 nn chip codename falcon. It will be installed in the upcoming new systems.


This chip will enable a much cooler and quieter system. No performance difference.

I went out on Tuesday night to look for the Elite around 188 Centre n Times Sq and no one has stocks! Price quoted was $3590 with only 1 controller. Whr did u get urs Kate? As for getting the extra controller, are u saying tat u traded ur old unit for the elite? And btw, i've called up the support for xbox and asked abt the heat problem and the support guy said that they never receive any info on the added heat-sink but kept saying the unit shld be put in a well ventilated area.

We got ours in GOlden Arcade, my husband knows the owners in a few shops. They held the Halo 3 for him.... (should have said thanks but not thanks!!!)... anyways, we sold our Xbox 360 Premium, along with the 2 controllers since it's a different colour. He likes the controllers to match his Elite.


There is no doubt, the Elite is much better machine.
