will appreciate anyone who can share their experiences of using either of the above. the avent isis costs about SGD100 more so keen to know their differences.
thanks!

If you want a good pump, Madela Swing is the best but rather pricy.

thanks for your advice. i see that medela swing is also a single pump and priced about the same as the avent isis.
in what ways did you find it a good product? thanks!

hi wheelymate, i got the avent manual pump (is this the isis model?) in the begining and then bought the medela swing as i assumed i was having problems with my wrist due to using a manual pump.
i generally found that (for me at least) using the manual pump was ways more comfortable and quicker (i expressed about 180 -240ml every morning for baby's ebm feed when i was at work).
i used medela swing for about 4 times only. was really disappointed.

hi goddess,
the avent isis i'm referring to is the electric one.
why were you disappointed with the medela, did it not express enough milk?
funny thing, my friend also used the avent manual, loved it and then she couldn't get any milk out of her friend's medela electric. but she's wondering if it's just that her body has been conditioned to the avent pump! :)

wheelymate it probably is! actually at a certain point i started pumping in thevenings too, and was fine with the manual one.
i always pumped on one side and fed on the other, and it was just a 1000times more convenient with the manual pump.
also with the manual pump: it was quicker as in 10min max, where as with the swing i'd have to sit and wait for 30min at least.
and then i found out the wrist problem was something else altogether (hormonal i think).
i think i spent about 250rmb on avent manual and a 1500HKD on the medela swing, so wasn't too pleased when it didn't do a good job.
i guess you want your pump for #2, if you can wait and try a friend's pump, do so before you invest in an electric one.

hi....i use avent isis uno - the electric one daily and i find it great.......within 5 to 10 mins it helps me to express 3-4 oz from one side....it imitates the manual one ie once u have established ur rhythem u switch on to electric mode and it just imitates that....will recommend it very highly..

i use the medela swing. no problems at all. i've never used any other pump so i can't really make a comparison... maybe is is not as good as the others and maybe it is better??!! all i know is that it is comfortable and easy to use. when i was b/f full-time i could get 4-6 oz from each boob. and takes less than 10 mins each side. but i think everyone is different and it is not all to do with the pump. would recommend it even if it is a little pricey... :)

Actually during my peak period and milk came in nicely, I can pump 8oz from both breast in 15 minutes. I can easily get 10oz if i stay a little longer. Usually i get about 5-6oz each time I pump. medela is really good for me. Another friend (my wardmate) is using M/Swing, she is pumping about 5-6 oz each time, one during lunch time and one just before off work, each time it takes her about 10 minutes. she b/feed her 7 months son morning and night and whole of weekend.
Swing is just my suggestion and it works well too. Have fun trying out!

I have both the medela single deluxe (very noisy) and double pump called "double select". http://www.medela.com/NewFiles/breastpumps.html
I exclusively pumped for 6mths (no boob) and preferred the double pump. It got the job done but near the end my boobs felt like they were going to fall off, especially when my supply started to go down. At the peak period I was pumping over 1L of milk a day!! Next time around, if #2 doesn't breast feed I think I'll try the hospital grade ones. for occasional use either option is ok i think. Have not used the isis
