You could catch a PLB from Sai Kung to Choi Hung, then MTR to Central. Allowing for walking between places and waiting etc it should take a bout an hour.

Sha Kok Mei I think is right near Sai Kung town centre so very handy, its within walking distance of the shops, public swimming pool, tennis courts and park.

Sai Kung has a great village atmosphere, good shops and restaurants, and apart from the swimming pool, there is also football, ballet, rugby etc available for the kids.

Hi CD,

Forgive my ignorance, what's a PLB? is there any minibus that takes me to choi hung MTR station? what about polam, is nt easier to get MTR from Polam station?

what about security, i am not too familiar with SK, to not say totally ignorant about the area but i heared from this forum that burglary are on high rise in the area. is that TRUE?

Cheers and thanks for the INFO

From Sha Kok Mei, walk down to the minibus stand on the main road (to the left of the new Thai place, next to mcdonalds) and catch the 101 to Hang Hau (20 mins) and then jump on the MTR and change at North Point. The MTR journey takes about 25-30 mins. The Choi Hung way takes a little bit longer but the journey back is more likely to get you a seat.

I've had many friends (and even my wife) live in Sha Kok Mei for years with no problems of any burglaries, people here tend to exagerate (but I'm not saying that break-ins don't happen), just buy a decent alarm or a dog and leave the lights on when you go out.

Sha Kok Mei is very convenient for the town so you might not need a car (a PLB is a Public Light Minibus).

Good Luck !

It used to have a great village atmosphere but now that so many people want to move here, there are new buildings popping up everywhere with the developers abusing the final months of the indigenous villager rights, most of the old style shops are being made into restaurants catering for wealthy westerners and a Starbucks is going to be built in the centre near to MacDonalds.

Call me bitter. You'd be right. ;-)
