HI...has anyone had experience crossing the border at Shenzhen during Golden week? I have a friend coming, and she really wants to go, but I have heard it may be very busy.

I went, it was no problem. I came back, it was also no problem. If you are willing to take the KCR train to Lok Ma Chau instead of Lo Wu, it is really no problem--nobody uses that spur. Just take the Shenzhen MTR from the Huanggang station terminus to wherever you want to go.
