We just moved to a house with a garden which has a wooden deck on one side and grass the other side. Will the deck attrack snakes to live under it? Has anyone with deck at home experienced this problem? Any solutions? We are at the Peak.

Hi vvv,

We used to have a low wooden deck in our Singapore garden & although we found many snakes inside the house & around the garden, I didn't encounter any under the deck at that time however our friends did so yes it is possible as some like humid dark hiding spaces. They would emerge from dense bushland & tall grasses around the area so maybe clear out garden beds to a low form & keep grass inside & outside the fence mown. I think they can be found anywhere when we live in a country with snakes & have a garden. I brought this spray from QLD Australia called Shoosnake (which I think is a heavy duty mixture of cloves) & they seemed to stop coming in. Not very effective if it rains though as a few nights ago we had our first snake here which just invited itself in through our garden gate. Just sprayed it around again until next time it rains. I would still enjoy having the garden & the deck. You just need to be precautious.
