Hi I haven't cut my hair in a long time and want to treat myself to a nice experience. My hair is pretty out of shape and I want something different - but not drastic!
Question: Which is better? Phillip George or The Hairdressers? And does anyone have anyone specific to recommend at either?
Thanks!

Hi Jen, being that i am from The Hairdressers i cant give you a recommendation but I can offer some advice if its ok. I would suggest visiting both salons for a consultation first and then decide which one you feel more comforatble with. I am not sure how many stylist are at Philip George (he is a great guy btw) but we have several at The Hairdressers with different price levels to suit a wider audience.
I hight recommend the consultation before you make your own choice as everyones experience in any salon is different. There are no opbligations and there is no preasure when you have your consultation so make the most of it. Dont forget to ask alot of questions. I know it does take a little extra time but i think its worth it.
Hope that little advice helps.

Helloalex,
How is it you can go to 2 salons very recently? I must say it does not sounds like you are talking about The Hairdressers at all. We dont do 'Funky' style work and definaltey dont experiment, the stylist at The Hairdressers are all very contemporary so I doubt your comment was derived from personal experience at all.

Jenk - there's tonnes of threads on this already (it almost needs its own forum!) and it always gets out of hand with the hairdressers (the profession not the company) putting their 2 cents worth in - why don't you just go for a consultation at each to see if you like the feel of the place? The general recommendation seems to be for Phillip George, The Hairdressers, Paul Gerrard, The Firm, so at least that narrows your search.
You have to remember that everyone has their own favorites (be it facialists, manicurists hairdressers, waxers etc etc) for various reasons, so you'll just have to experiment with the ideas that people come up with until you find what you like.

Helloalex, thats very interesting.
We did have a junior stylist named Cynthia who worked here but she was fired more than 6 months ago so it definately was not recent. I do agree her work was not up to standard thus resulting in her being fired. I am sorry you had to experience that and unfortunately it is often not until a stylist is working within an environment that you can really judge the qulity of their work.
I dont think your expericne is a reflextion on all the other intenational stylists working at The Haridressers.

Hi Jenk, I have found a great hairdresser, not cheap but not overly expensive and he is great with western hair. I haven't had my hair done in nearly 4 months and was very pleased. I'll send you a pm.

Hi Jenk. I would like to suggest another option. I just had my hair highlighted and cut by Catherine at Paul Gerrard. I have always been very picky when it comes to my hair and I am thrilled! The atmosphere is very nice, they serve a great cappuchino, the prices are comparable if not better, and most important, my hair is gorgeous! Went back to blonde after a botched brown dye from another salon and now it looks natural, shiny and healthy. As long as I am in HK I will not go anywhere else!

any stylist recommendations for a cut under $600?
my hair is fine and flat...wanna add more volume to it.
Do i HAVE to have a perm for that?
i shampoo everyday & dont really wanna use styling products often.
