Renovation Contractor - Way over Budgeted Quote demanding payment

I have a situation where a contractor who was renovating my home has come to me at the completion of my project and requested that I pay $250,000 more than the quotation.

Anyone know my rights?

Did you sign a contract with the contractor? The contracts that I have seen always give them a right to go over by a certain %. HK$250K is a lot of money but if it is a relatively small % of the total costs - it might have been reasonable. Have you been paying them in installments - because the installments should have reflected the change in budget.
