Ive seen a couple around asking for over $5000... friend has an unlocked one he bought from the states and works fine!

ive found myself a contact to get me 2 iphones for under 4000 for the 4gb version. if u do pick one up, u gotta make sure the software version is the first version, not the updated 1.1.1 version

I have heard that updating the software with make unlocked phones unusable, so be careful!

I am certain that I read somewhere that if you do this the phone wont work any longer...

If you update the phone software to version 1.1.1 then you WILL lock the phone up.

When installing iTunes and synchronising the phone, make sure you unclick "Auto update" tick box...
