This is also hearsay having never lived in korea myself, but I was told it is more a problem to find accomodations to facilitate having live in help. I have lived in Tokyo where this is also the case and Hong Kong where I had live in help. Of the two I live out help suited me better and I also noticed fewer expats complain about their helpers when they are live out. In Tokyo I had someone come in the afternoon and could also call on in the evening when I needed a babysitter. I found helpers a lot more efficient when they were paid hourly because they want to squeeze in as many jobs as possible into a day. So what took a whole day in HK was done in 3 hours in Tokyo. When you calculate that extra efficiency it may not be as much more expensive than HK as seems.
