Thinking about buying a new cell phone here in HK. The phone I've been using is from Canada, which I had it unlocked before coming to HK. So no problem.
Want to know if all triband and quadband cell phones purchased here in HK are already unlocked, so they can be used overseas in places like Canada and the US??
Btw, has anyone got the relatively new Samsung E218 flip phone. How is it? Am thinking about getting this one.
thanks in advance for any feedback.

I would think you could ask the retailer. Also, if you can put another phone prover's SIM card in the phone and it works, it is not locked (phone and SIM card). Normally a company will lock a phone to its service. Phones bought in Viet Nam are not locked.

Phones in HK are not locked and can normally be used with any sim cards.

Hi
I have a phone bought from Canada. It is locked to Roger's network. How can I unlock it and use it in HK?

I have a blackberry bold from the states. It will not work here in HK with there sim card. I am flying to US for a week for business . Do you think I can have it unlocked. It is an AT&T provider.

Continued from above. I already tried using sim card from pccw

Go to an AT&T store and ask. The US policy is typically that if you can prove you no longer live in the US, they will unlock it for you.
