Been there a couple of time and am going again soon. I think it's stunningly beautiful and has most things going for it, but I can't say I was that enamored with the food, whether it was served in top notch hotels or from a humble cafe. No stars or 5 stars - if it was good, authentic nosh I would be happy, but I haven't found anything memorable there yet and the search is still on.
I'll be driving around most of the time on my next trip (although I tend not to bother too much with Kuta) and wonder if anyone has any recommendations for anywhere on the island serving great local dishes. Thanks!

For cheap & cheerful yet very tasty local food, try Baku Dapa Warung in Seminyak (tel. 0361 731148) or Kalang Anyar Cafe in Jimbaran (tel. 0361 702777)
