Dear Mums, our twins are due for MMR and I am not sure whether to go for one shot or three separate ones. What did others go for? Thank you

We went for three separate ones - actually two as our son did'nt need Rubella - our thinking was that even if the risk of a problem was even minutely small why even take the risk (this was at the time that there was a lot of concern about the link between one shot and mild autism). However the last I heard that it was no longer possible to get separate vaccinations in HK - but this was 7 years ago so my info may well be out of date.

Almost all mums visiting our babyclinic have decided to offer the single vaccination to their children. This is consistent with the advice received from all the Matilda’s resident paediatricians.

Not only is it difficult to source separate vaccinations and is full cover not guaranteed, having caused an increase in measles infections, the concerns related to the vaccination have not been substantiated by numerous studies following the initial research.

I decided to give my daughter the 3 separate shots last year; started with the measles and the other 2, three months apart. You can still get the seperate shots in HK through Owens Trodd & Partners.

hi, thanks everyone, yes - single is 3 in 1 Cara, the thinking behind having it separately as Topol correctly mentioned is suspected link to autism. And you can still get separate ones.. but think i will go for the single one...

Pretty sure. Have you tried calling them? My girlfriend's daughter had her Rubella a couple of months ago & is having the Mumps soon.
