Mac to Windows Network Printer

ORIGINAL POST

Here's a technical question... I have a Windows home network and have a printer connected to the network via a printer server (an old Windows 2000 laptop).

I am trying to configure an Apple laptop so that it may use the printer over the network. The Apple laptop uses OS X. I am fairly proficient on Windows but am lost with Apple.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Raydio,

Do you still have this problem - do you still need some help with a sharing printer?

Yes, I still have the problem. The MAC refuses to recognize the printer connected to the computer I've set up as a print server. All Windows based computers have no problem connecting and printing.

Raydio,

Do you have the appletalk protocol installed on the Windows 2000 printer that is acting as a print server? I am fairly proficient on Windows but am lost, with a map and compass, with Apple.

Yes, I have the Appletalk protocol installed on the computer with Windows 2000 which I am using as a print server. This was installed quite a while ago, along with the usernames and passwords of the users who are using the Apple computers. Still, I have no luck. I figure that there is one little thing that I've missed to make this work but I don't know what it is. Thanks for your help.
