Wheat Free Diet

ORIGINAL POST

I went to a naturopath in Australia about 10 years ago and was advised to cut wheat, dairy and sugar. At the time I committed myself for 2 months and never looked so good or felt better. After a couple of kids and the rhythm of life I am carrying weight and feeling quite tired. I would like to try and commit to this eating plan again. Is there anybody out there who lives wheat free or could advise me on where to shop for products, even some eating plans would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have been wheat free (or 90%) for the past 2 months - it is so hard but you are right worth it. The best shop I found was Health Gate - http://www.health-gate.com/ sells everything wheat free. Great and Olivers also have some things too. I have found it very difficult to come up with interesting ideas and rather than actually cook with substitute wheat products I am trying to to simply eat things that don't contain wheat but its hard. I'd also be really grateful for some eating plans.

Hi everyone - what are the advantages of not eating wheat? Is wheat bad for everyone, or just some people?

Intolerence of wheat is very common, but does not effect all. Signs of intolerence could be bloating, difficulty losing weight, sluggish digestive system, tiredness. You would know if you are by eliminating wheat for a week and dropping 3 kilos in fluid retention and fat. I found out through a blood test.

I didn't eat wheat, yeast, dairy or sugar for well over six months a few years back and felt fantastic and so light with loads of energy. My suggestion is for you to order the cookbook from Freedom Foods in Aus: http://www.freedomfoods.com.au/

It has loads of really easy recipes for all different intollerences and they are not only yummy but take minimal time to make. You will also probably find a lot of info on their site about other things to eat as well.

It feels overwhelming at first but then it becomes really easy - hope this helps...

Hi

I have been on a wheat free diet for 6 years as i have been diagnosed with a wheat intolerance - i have found the best places to get wheat free products (whcih are usually gluten fre) are ThreeSixty - in The Landmark mall Central (sells wheat free waffles, bread, flour, biscuits, cakes, pasta), and Life - on the left on the escalator near Stauntons.

It is expensive to get wheat free products here though as it has all been imported.
