sweet potato - they LOVE it, parsnips. Dont worry giving her fruit - we did a mix and it worked fine - so apples and pears (stewed) are great. Also can mix apples with some veg. Also can mix veg of course - parsnip, carrot, sweet potato etc...

Grab a book in a store next time to give you ideas - I used Annabel Karmel, but hear good things about Gina Ford weaning one too..

Hi suem, as honeypie said..first sliced them thin and cooked them in a little water...then pureed them in the same water to conserve the nutrients....same with the pumpkin too..pumpkin had a bit strong smell so after pureeing just gave them one boil...bb liked it...

There are a LOT of very good threads and posts about feeding babies on this forum. Do a search and you'll have a LOT of reading to do.

sweet potatoes are supposed to be great, but my baby brought it all out within 5 minutes at first try and then pooped it all out in an hour or so after second try when he was about 6months old..

i think most veggies are ok so long as you follow the one at a time, and 4 day wait rule.

i gave carrots, pumpkins, avocado, peas (baby),broccoli, all mixed with rice cereal or on their own and baby really loved it all.

smsm, i actually rarely steam veggies, i bought a pressure cooker exclusively for baby and tend to cook almost all his food in it, as it's very quick. just one whistle and you're done.

i cooked only the florets of the broccoli, didn't put the stem part and yes, pureed it and fed to baby, though together with other things. like i'd cook potatoes, carrots and broccoli together and puree it all and feed him lunch...

other veggies that i forgot about are Zucchini and green beans.

zucchini - take off skin and deseed, before cooking and purèeing.

green beens, trim top and tain and also cut out the parts where the stringy fibre is ' a bit wasteful, but....

Avocado is a very healthy veggie to try. No cooking required...just mash.
