I would go to Boracay or Cebu than Bali based on our experience.
Three days in Cebu is alright...Boracay, the children would love the sun and the sea and the powder white sand.
The parents can leave the chidren with the "temporary nanny" to enjoy night life.
Sunset view was magnificent which we didn't get in Jimbaran.
The food is near authentic.

boracay and cebu have plenty to offer, but if you're particularly looking for something that could match thailand's elephants, then probably bohol (also in the philippines) would be a better alternative. there you'll see the famous tarsier (a small animal with big round eyes) and of course the chocolate hills.
going back to your question: bali or cebu...i'd say cebu. you can try hilton and avail of their excellent amenities and wonderful spa packages.
