Hi I have just started a dance studio and am currently on a dependents visa. I need advice as to how I go about changing my visa to to business or working visa so my husband can have the dependents visa. He is currently doing his masters degree and working a job he really doesn't like so we're trying to find a way he can quit his job legally and stay while helping me with my business and tutoring instead of where he is working now.

Anyone got experience having their business sponsor their own visa if it is a sole proprietorship.

Thanks!

As you are running your own business which is of a pesonal nature / on the basis of your artistic /creative skills the Immgration dept will consider a business sponsorship for a sole proprietorship. The issunace of an invesmten/employmetn visa to you , however, is subject to the crieteria applicable to such a visa. You have to show that you possess outstanding skills which are not commonly found here and that your business will benefit HK economy by providing employment opportunities to local people etc..

Your husband is already in possession of an employment visa on the basis that his skills have been recognised as suitable enough to work in HK . Under the circumstacnces on what basis could you claim that he would your dependant when you obtain an investment/employment visa.

A person who has been issued an employment visa is not entitled to follow a course of studies without the permission of the Immigration dept .
