I got the same suggestion from time to time (my son just turned one). And yes seems like we really need to be this early. A friend of mine said her friend tried to enrol her baby (under 1 now) for 2008's admission in her preferred nursery and it's already full.

Any experience to share? And any recommendation for good nurseries?

Of course it is a good idea to register, however you hear the same thing every year that they are all full. However, I would not worry, they maybe full now and parents may put their child on a list for several kindys. Hong Kong is very transient so I doubt you will have a problem placing your child. Southside & Panda are highly recommended.

if you feel very strongly about a particula nursery and dont want your baby to end up elsewhere, then yes of course, you should register - normally it is not much money - we put ours down for Jan 2008 Woodlands in Tai Tam in May 2007 and are still on a waiting list. Registration was $500...

thanks guys, sounds like i have no choice but to join the 'rat race' if needed to choose a better school. Does Woodlands / Panda / Southside has any primary & secondary or associated schools linked all the way? By then i wouldn't need to worry on late registration agn after kindys...
