Anyone have an experience with a positive ending? 5 days now and still being messed about with no information whatsoever. I have just been told to call heathrow lost luggage directly.
It's funny, a few years ago I caught a flight to London from germany and the flight from germany was delayed and I would miss the connecting flight from London to HK. Because I had bought the europe flight seperately to the ticket from LHR to HK (and with a non affiliated airline) it was not possible to recoup any costs incurred from missing the flight. Fair enough, we live and learn.
This time I bought the same flights but this time 1 invoice with the same airline (or partners) and the HK end are blaming their partner in europe and washing their hands of it saying I need to deal with the other airline directly. So they want it both ways.

My brother in law has had his luggage lost twice whilst travelling from the US to HK due to having to change planes twice, but both times his luggage was found and send directly to his flat within 3 days.

Bottom line is the carrier which ticketed you will have to look for your luggage ! It may be worth a quick call to Heathrow to save your blood pressure but could have been sent somewhere else - did you have tags with a contact address ?
Best policy is to start with polite but firm faxes to the airline which ticket you, copied to the partner which carried you (if they are different)...
Need to find out on which segment of the flight it went missing and focus on harassing the offending parties from there!
