clothes, shoes, grobag, toys, teething rind, training cups, spoons, cereal, ... the usual stuff. I think that was what we bought most for our babies...

endless possibilities.
a book for your sister - one of those what to expect in baby's first year book so that she knows what to do about various milestones, developments e.g. solids, teething
i think a sling is a fab idea and you can't go wrong with nice clothes and toys.

i'm actually going to buy a baby bjorn air carrier (it's hot in india!), ofcourse some clothes, toys no as i'm sure everyone else will be giving her those.
Is a sling a better idea?

Hi Kali - I have a baby bjorn air and a sling myself. I used the baby bjorn up in the first 6 months and coz my back ached as he's becoming heavier, I bought a sling instead and am still carrying him in it now (he just turned one). I would definitely go for a sling for your sister's baby. She will quickly outgrow the bjorn.

I think indian ladies are very good with the peace of cloth in hand they have just like the indonesians here so giving a sling may not be that 'useful' but why not ya as a gift, they may find this 'modern style' facinsting :p BTW, yes, nicher, it is very useful and handy compare to carrier (in HK). I love using it to. Mine is from mominmind, a friend from S'pore brought this over.

Ruth would you happen to know if the sears book is available in Hong kong?
well since a sling can be easily made in india, i'm sending her a baby carrier. most probably an ergo.

Why not get her something as a keepsake. They have wonderful baby piggie banks from Tiffanys that are not that expensive. And children's books are always wonderful

U can also get her a good stroller if she doesnt have one already..U get really good ones in hongkong as compared to india.

yup that's an idea. but i post things to her so i think a stroller by post is not so practical and will also cost me a bomb.
thanks for the suggestion though.
