how old are your kids? I am totally with joshmomm on the routine part - if they know what to expect it should minimize the hassle. Try to start with the routine - and it will take them a while but they will get there. As joshmomm said - bath, milk (If you still give it to them), and a story. We actually start winding them down half an hour before bath as well - we get them in from the playground and put a baby Einstein (or something similar) dvd on (the only time they watch it) - so they sit quitly and watch it, then go off to the bath...
