BB is one year old. He used to poo every day but recently his routine becomes once every two days. And the stool is hard and sometimes he cries when pushing it out. Occasionally there's a little bit of blood too. What should I feed him to make his stool less hard? We do try giving him liquid from time to time, but he just doesn't like water. He only takes a sip or two. So we make juice/ soup too. Still, it seems to me he is not keen in drinking anything but breastfeeding. Any suggestions?

Hi Nicher,
Try giving papaya and sweet potato.

Bran and fibre rich breads, cooked prunes and prune juice, brown rice rather than white, apricots, more veggies like peas, broccoli and lentils, try to find FUN ways to drink...cute cups with straws etc, more exercise, tummy massage...
Carrots, bananas and dairy products can constipate. Maybe increase your breastfeeding a bit...drink more water yourself too.
Good luck...this is a stinker of a question! ;-)

Thanks for the suggestions! He's been on all kinds of fiber food and fruits that you mentioned. The key problem is he doesn't drink enough fluid. I finally got a staw cup over the weekend and thank God! He likes to drink from it and his poo now becomes smooth (fingers crossed)! Straw cup really works a magic! Hope he's willing to drink more milk from it as well.
By the way, I find it so hard to find fresh prunes these days...

Look for reasons as to why baby is constipated.
Eating too many low-fiber foods. Encourage enough fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Offer a fruit smoothie made with breastmilk.
Lack of fluids If your toddler isn't getting enough liquids, her system will respond by absorbing more fluid from whatever she eats or drinks — and from the waste in her bowels, as well. This can result in hard, dry bowel movements that are difficult to pass. Increase the number and amount of breastfeeds. Breastmilk stool is usually soft and liquid.
Lack of activity. Movement helps blood flow to your toddler's digestive system, so if she's not active, she may experience trouble in the BM department.
If not resolved after increasing fiber and fluids, please see your family doctor.
