Bats

The entrance to our house has just recently attracted the attention of swooping bats from dusk to dawn, does anybody have suggestions on how to get these creepy critters to move elsewhere?

What's the problem with bats? I guess birds are probably worse carriers of evil these days... I'd love it if a gang of bats started hanging out with us as they'd help decimate the biting insect population that is all too evidently attracted to our place :(.

I may be blissfully ignorant but I don't think they do any harm unless you were unlucky enough to get bitten, and that's highly unlikely. If I were you I'd try to learn to love them!

Well must say Orlandorats wasn't cheery news about our bat problem. And its hard to love something that zooms within a few millimeters from your face when you are just trying to get into the door. Maybe we'll use bee masks or badmitten rackets. As cute as they might be it's a bit nerve wracking when they swoop you though it's exciting to smell and see them in their colonies and one in the rafters of an abandoned house in a small lifeless village just beyond the hill from us.

I am sure it is just folklore but I grew up in the UK believing that bats only colonise a happy home and its good luck to have them 'nesting'? in your roof!

We have had them for the last 8 years and no problems apart from as you say getting use to them swooping around you.
