I am from the US my wife is from Indonesia. I have been in HKG on a professional work visa for about 3 years. My wife is "attached" to my visa as dependant. If we have our baby in HKG does he become an automatic permanent resident? If so would the parents become permanent permamnent residents by default (after applying of course)?

Baby will have the right to become permanent after you obtain your permanent residency. You need to work in HK for 7 consecutive years before you can apply for permanent residency.

The child will get PR if under 7, but only if you have completed your 7 years and qualify for it. My youngest 2 that were born here, got it at age 5 and 3. They don't have an ID card as they are under 11, but they had a stamp put in their passports saying they were entitled to PR, and no longer need a visa.
