My son who is 4.5 years has some significant pain in his calves or feet every 3 - 4 months. It usually happens in the middle of the night and he will whimper in agony and I'll massage the painful area for quite awhile until he falls asleep. In the morning, he is completely fine as if nothing had happened.
I am speculating that it is growth spurt pains. Has anyone had similar experience with your child? If so, could you let me know how you dealt with it and whether it was growth spurt pains? Thanks so much.

See if you can increase his calcium and magnesium (twice as much calcium as magnesium) supplements before that painful time. Also, give him ibuprofen for the pain.
