Hi,
I have a 11 days' old bb who is fully on breast feed, found out yesterday that he started to have rash on his buttock. This is because he poo very often during a day.
Wonder which type of cream is the best for the bb? He cries every time when I change his diaper. His cries really make my heart broken.
Please help!!
Thanks.
Regards,
Huey Len

Hi...if he already has a rash, its better to show it to the doc so that it can be treated. At the same time , you can apply any diaper rash cream such as Mustela Vitamin barrier cream or any other cream with zinc oxide as it makes a barrier bet the skin and the poo. The rash cream wont cure the rash he already has. Its just a prevention cream. When my baby was 1 month plus she too got a rash which the doc identified as a fungal rash and gave a separate med for the same. And recommended that we continue to apply any diaper rash cream as well.

definately sudocreme. It was the only thing that worked on nappy rash, even a severe case when my kids were small, and even now they're older we still always have some indoors for bites, minor sunburn, etc.

Desitin is also very good and is available in park'n shop. For us, it always clears the rash overnite. The only thing is it is quite thick and not so easy to wipe off. If it hasn't become a full "rash" but you see some redness, I use vaseline as a barrier and it's wonderful. The best best way though is always make sure the bum bum is COMPLETELY clean & DRY before you close the nappie. My 9-mth old sometimes poo upto 4 times a day, vaseline has been a life-saver.

I am on child number 3 and worked as a nanny/maternity nurse for 10 yrs previously and Sudocreme is by far the most effective. Remember to wipe your baby's bottom with water and cotton wool instead of using baby wipes until the rash gets better. The wipes will cause the rash to sting.

I LOVE Burt's Bees, it works great and is all natural. Some Mannings have it, try the one on QRC near the escalator.

We always used water and cotton wool, never baby wipes ... and sudocreme was the best cream. Also had aromababy barrier creme - not as chemical based as Mustela, but Sudocreme was by far the best thing for fixing the problem.
