Be warned in Hong Kong also (about RMB). I have an RMB account at one of the most major banks here, and was given fake RMB 100 notes as part of the withdrawal. They couldn't have cared less, and when I reported it, said "not us, you must have gotten these "in change." I asked "In change for what? An RMB 500 note?" I've also been passed fake 50s in Shenzhen. Since counterfeits are now down as far as the 20 RMB notes, I try to minimize the risk a little by withdrawing no higher than 20 RMB notes from my account here when going to SZ on day trips. Yes, a little bulky, but it's near-madness to expect the 100s all to be genuine these days.
