Aluminium is usually "painted" during the fabrication process, hot and by the application of a sprayed powder which is baked onto the aluminium surface. All advice I have received in the past is that it is impossible to paint aluminium with any conventional paint system without it having a poor finish and no durability.

why don't you just replace the windows and frames, it's possible to get them installed in 3 weeks even if you need scaffolding etc.

If you do paint them there's a strong possibility that it may look even worth than the current state!
