Hi moms,

What oil do you use for baby food? butter, canola, vegetable, or olive?

in italy they reccomend that you start adding a teaspoon of olive oil when you start giving solids. i was very reluctant as my baby started a week before he completed 5months, but hubby (who's italian) was adamant and would supervise me adding it : )))

In india they start at about 6 months.

so if you're convinced, at 7.5months, maybe you can start now. a couple of drops with steamed veggies to start with and then increase, and then gradually introduce butter.

hi smsm,

at that age, i don't saute baby food yet, all steam, so i don't use oil.

What i do is put 1 tsp of flaxseed oil in his cereal/food.
