Hi I have been recruited and am now in HKG. However the company hasn't sourced a visa for me can I still get an ID card and is there a complication without a work visa.

The rules have been relaxed a little over the last year. For instance, a dependent is now allowed to work. I would check the immigration website www.immd.gov.hk Your employer should help you.
