Hi All here,
I just learned how to make bread but my breadmaker machine gone burst after the first use (Kenwood brand). The fee for servicing is quite expensive, so I consider to get a mixer rather than servicing the breadmaker machine.
But as I don't have any experience with mixer, I don't know what type of mixer I should choose to help me knead the dough and also can be
use in daily life (like baking cake, cookies, whisking eggs, etc). What specifications should I look for when choosing the mixer (i.e. the wattage of the mixer, which type of mixer is good for kneading
dough and versatile enough so the machine won't burnt, etc). Any particular brand and model? Simple mixer (without blender) will do for me, as I already have a blender in my kitchen.
I only need to bake may be 2 loaves of bread at a time, just for my husband and my toddlers.... Thanks a lot in advance for any advice..

Thanks Starlion. Some friends of mine also suggested to get Bosch mixer (kitchen machine). I tried to find it in the shop here, but apparently Bangkok didn't have it (according to the sales person). For the mixer that could handle bread, they only carry Kenwood, Kitchen Aid and Severin... Any feedback about those brands?

The simple & cheaper mixers (eg. Philips, National) which has a bowl stand, did advertise that it is suitable for dough making, but in reality, it's not. The mixing bowl is not locked to the stand and will require you to hold the bowl while the hooks flip/knead the dough. I had tried before for making pizza dough.
I picked up an Ichiban model 8005 in Spore( actually also made in Singapore) , the size of a Kenwood CHEF. The beater is not as wide as kenwood's model, so midway, will need to scrape the bowl sides if making cake mixture. I could mix 400 gms of pizza dough at 1 go.
I think it cost about SGD260.
