Switch from Prepaid to Plan

I have a CSL prepaid SIM card. If I want to use a mobile phone plan from CSL or any other company, does anyone know if I can keep my original phone number?

Also, if anyone has opinions re: prepaid versus mobile phone plans (i.e., which is more economical), I'd be interested to hear.

All depends on how often you make/receive calls. How many minutes did you use last month? Remember that pre-paid does not have a tunnel fee or "admin" charge so it may turn out more economical than a plan even though calls and sms are more expensive.

To be honest, I am not sure how many minutes I used. But, I do know one thing: when I use prepaid sim cards, I try to be more economical - txt when I can, keep calls short (I'm cheap) but a few years ago, when I was on a Smartone plan, I tried to use up the minutes.

What about the keep your number question? I thought back in 2000 or 2001 the government made the mobile phone companies institute this. Am I mistaken?
