Hello. I have a bit of a dilemna with my 11.5 month old. She is pretty chubby, but we recently found out that we aren't feeding her the minimum required formula for her age (24-32 oz)-that's another story! We have visited 2 different doctors about her weight and one tells me the minimum required formula is 16 oz and to feed her as much solids as she wants- she'll let us know when she is full. The other doctor says we should be feeding her at least 24 oz of formula per day and that solids are only for fun. I'm worried if we increase her formula any further that she will gain even more weight. She is walking on her own (people have told me in the past that she will start to lose the chubbiness once she is active...) She has also never refused food and has yet to give us the signs she is full. She has 3 6oz bottles a day, 1/4 cup baby cereal in the morning with a little fruit, 5 ice cube sizes of protein/ veg/ fruit for lunch, the same for dinner and no snacks. To make a long story short, can those of you with a baby similar in age please tell me how much formula / solids you are feeding your babies? I know that it will probably vary greatly, but I just want a rough idea of what other babies around this age are eating (especially formula). Thanks!

Hi Kilwinning - my LO is 11.5months old too, how much he eats varies daily and is down to how much he is wiling to eat - as a rough guide:
Milk: 25-30oz: morning (whenever he wakes up and "demands" it) usually around 6oz, then two 8oz feeds at 3 / 7.30pm. He always wakes up around 11pm for a few more ozs and he sometimes has a few ozs more at lunch - depending on when he has day time sleep (he has just cut down from two to one per day)
Solids:
Breakfast 8am - 4 ice cubes of fruit with couple of large sppons of cereal
Lunch(midday): 5 cubes of protein / veggies usually with a spoon or rice and a pot of fromage frais
Dinner 6pm - similar to lunch
Snacks - sometimes depends on how hungry he is this would be mid morning and usually a couple of rice cakes / homemade veggie bites we make.
He is not a chubby child, however he is a very active one - he's been walking since 9.5 months, he always lets us know when he doesn't want any more food though so we know when he is full.
I have wondered if we are feeding him too much formula and therefore he is not eating enough solids which is why he wakes up every night...... I think it's the Annabel Karmel book that says at this age milk consumption should be 19-24oz per day.
